On November 18-19, 2014, the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv hosted the 32th Meeting of the GUAM Council of National Coordinators (CNC). This event involved the following officials: Mr. T. Musayev, Director of the Department of Regional Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Mrs. I. Lomidze, Deputy Director on European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Mr. A. Nistrean, Director of the Regional Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, who chaired the meeting; Mr. A. Kononenko, Ambassador at large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; and Mr. V. Chechelashvili, Secretary General of GUAM.

The CNC considered information from the Presidency about the work being carried out to promote the UN Draft Resolution “Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development”.

The CNC expressed gratitude to the Moldovan Side for having a successful Presidency and recommended the CMFA to make a decision on transferring the Chairmanship of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM to Ukraine.

The CNC welcomed the holding of the 8th Meeting of the GUAM PA Bureau and also of the 7th Plenary Session of the GUAM PA on November 10-11, 2014 in Chisinau. The CNC also welcomed the adoption of the Communiqué from the GUAM PA and the Joint Statement of the PA GUAM, the Baltic Assembly and the parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Poland.

The CNC discussed a range of issues related to GUAM sectoral cooperation, in particular, cooperation in implementing a project on the cryptographic protection of information, expanding the infrastructure of the Virtual Center, and also with respect to energy.

CNC participants exchanged views regarding the appointment of countries to coordinate the GUAM sectoral Working groups in 2015-2016.

Members of the CNC listened to information presented by the Secretariat regarding the results of the Second Workshop “Promoting the Green Economy in GUAM countries: Promoting Renewable Energy Sources”, which was organised by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) on behalf of the Japanese Side. The event took place on October 29-30, 2014. The CNC expressed gratitude to the Japanese Side and the REC for holding the workshop at such a high level.

The CNC discussed issues concerning cooperation between GUAM and individual countries, partners and international organisations.

The venue and date of the next CNC meeting shall be agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
