The Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM Mr A. Efendiev took part in the 18th Mid-term Ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement under the theme «Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development», held on 3-6 April 2018 in Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In his statement GUAM Secretary General stressed the importance of the GUAM area in the emerging global connectivity architecture and the regional development, draw the attention to the existing conflicts on the territories of the GUAM member states that pose serious threats to the international peace, security and stability and called upon the international community to enhance their efforts in the resolution of the conflicts on the basis of international law. Secretary General appealed to the NAM member states to support the Joint Resolution of the GUAM member states «Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development» at the forthcoming UN General Assembly.
