On November 29-30, 2012, the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv hosted the 26th meeting of the Council of National Coordinators (CNC) of GUAM, which involved representatives of Member States and the GUAM Secretariat.

The CNC considered issues pertaining to political cooperation, sectoral cooperation and organisational activities, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organisations.

The CNC agreed upon the text of the draft UN resolution “Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development” and discussed the progress being made on the draft UN Resolution “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM” at the current UNGA session.

The CNC thanked the Japanese side for implementing projects in the field of green energy, transport infrastructure, tourism and agriculture, as well as expressing hope for further active cooperation.

The CNC discussed issues related to GUAM’s cooperation with partner countries and other international organisations.
The CNC reviewed the activities of the sectoral working groups, particularly those for transportation, tourism, economy and trade, culture, science and education, and energy.
The CNC highlighted GUAM’s further participation in the international activities of the United Nations (Anti-Terrorism Committee of the Security Council), the OSCE (Annual Security Review Conference – ASRC), the Council of Europe (Committee of Experts on Terrorism – CODEXTER), and other international organisations.

The CNC considered issued related to the preparation of the 20th Ministerial Council meeting, to take place during the next OSCE Ministerial Meeting (in Dublin, Ireland on 6/7 December 2012), and agreed on drafts of the relevant documents.

The venue and date of the CNC’s next meeting will be coordinated through diplomatic channels.
