On June 4-5, 2013, the 18th Meeting of the GUAM Trade and Transport Facilitation Project Steering Committee of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM took place in Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Participants in the meeting listened to information regarding the implementation of the decisions taken in the Protocol from the 17th Meeting of the TTF Project Steering Committee. They also discussed the following draft projects: “Agreement between the Governments of GUAM member states on the mutual recognition of authorised economic operators” and “Protocol between the customs administrations of GUAM member states on organising the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles transiting across the state borders of GUAM member states”. The text of the last document was agreed upon during the Meeting of directors from the IT departments of GUAM member states’ customs bodies (held on May 20, 2013, GUAM Secretariat).
The TTF PSC agreed to send the GUAM Secretariat its comments and proposals regarding the project “Agreement between the Governments of GUAM member states on the mutual recognition of authorised economic operators”, and also to assist, within its competence, towards adopting the “Protocol between the customs administrations of GUAM member states on organising the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles transiting across the state borders of GUAM member states”.
The TTF PSC agreed to host the next meeting of the TTF Project Steering Committee, which should take place in the second half of 2013, in Georgia. The exact date and venue of the meeting shall be agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
