The 24th Meeting of the Council of National Coordinators (CNC) of GUAM took place on April 9-10, 2012 in Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. A. Azimov (who chaired the event), in addition to the following: the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mr. N. Vashakidze, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. A. Popov, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. P. Klimkin, and the Secretary General of GUAM, Mr. V. Chechelashvili.
The CNC considered issues related to the implementation of the Programme for the Presidency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including issues of political interaction, sector-specific cooperation and organisational activities. Participants emphasised the particular importance of the successful realisation of projects in the fields of economy and trade, transport, energy, tourism and in the area of law enforcement. The CNC considered the schedule and the issues of the Agenda in a number of sector-specific GUAM Working Groups, and approved the respective decisions and recommendations.
The CNC adopted decisions related to realising current and the introduction of new projects and programs of cooperation within the “GUAM” and “GUAM+” formats. Participants were pleased to note that there has been a growing number of international organizations and representatives of business circles, which have demonstrated their interest in cooperating on the basis of the GUAM platform.
The CNC expressed its gratitude to the Azerbaijan Side, in its Presidency, for demonstrating excellent traditional hospitality and for the commendable organization of this meeting.
The location and date of the next meeting of the CNC will be agreed upon and announced through diplomatic channels in future.
