On 30-31 May, 2011 in GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv 7th Meeting of GUAM Working Group on Transport took place under the Azerbaijan chairmanship with the participation of GUAM member states’ delegations, representatives of IRU and GUAM Secretariat.
During the Meeting participants considered information on realization of the Protocol of the 6th Meeting of Working group on Transport, the project of the «Conception of GUAM Transport Corridor Development” elaborated following the comments of Ukrainian Side. IRU “Model Highway Initiative” was presented to the session. This project in included in the draft Road map on realization of the Transcaucasian transit potential of GUAM member states and development of the international automobile transportations in a Europe – Asia route.
As an outcome of the discussion participants recommended to endorse the agreed version of the «Conception of GUAM Transport Corridor Development” at level of the heads responsible for development of transport in GUAM member states, to take into consideration information of IRU concerning the project «Model Highway Initiative» and continue respective discussions to identify ways for its further realization.
As an outcome of the Meeting the Protocol was signed.
Next WGT Meeting will take place in the second half of 2011. Time and venue of next meeting will be agreed by diplomatic channels.
