On October 10-11, 2011 the Joint International Conference “Building bridges over the borders” organized by the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly and Baltic Assembly took place in Baku with the participation of the Mr. Jānis Reirs, Vice President of the Baltic Assembly, Chair of the BA Latvian delegation; Dr. Marika Laizāne-Jurkāne, Secretary General of the Baltic Assembly: Mr. Anatolie Dimitriu, Chairman of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, Head of the Moldavian GUAM PA Delegation; Mr. Elton Mammadov, Head of the Azerbaijani GUAM Parliamentary Assembly Delegation; Mr. Vakhtang Balavadze, Head of the Georgian GUAM Parliamentary Assembly Delegation; Mr. Anatolii Matviienko, Head of the Ukrainian GUAM Parliamentary Assembly Delegation, and Mr. Valeri Chechelashvili, Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM.
As an outcome of the event the Resolution of the Joint International Conference “Building bridges over the borders” of GUAM Parliamentary Assembly and Baltic Assembly was adopted, in which, among other issues, participants supported the necessity of elimination of the consequences of the ongoing military occupation of the territories of states and resolution of conflicts based on the norms and principles of international law.
The GUAM delegations agreed to hold the meeting of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly Bureau on November, 23, 2011 in Kyiv.
GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, together with Benelux Parliamentary Assembly, will participate in 30th Session of the Baltic Parliamentary Assembly on November 25, 2011 in Tallinn.
