On March 15-19, 2021, the GUAM-Japan Workshop on Customs organized by the Government of Japan for experts of the GUAM Member States within the GUAM-Japan cooperation was held by the videoconference. Representatives of the Customs Administrations of the GUAM Member States, as well as the GUAM Secretariat, participated in the event.

On March 15-16, the participants from the GUAM Member States made presentations on the topic of customs in the GUAM Member States and discussed with experts from the Ministry of Finance of Japan the current state, as well as state policy on the development of customs.

On March 17-19, the participants were acknowledged with the presentations of the Japanese Side. Inter alia, the representatives of the Customs Administration Research Office of the Customs and Tariff Bureau of Japan’s Ministry of Finance made presentations on Risk Management, Single Window, Smart Customs, Advance Ruling and Rules of Origin and Origin Procedures.

The experience gained by the participants during the Workshop can be used in new GUAM-Japan projects on customs.
