On February 1, 2016, the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM, Mr. Altai Efendiev, was received by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, Mr. Henryk Litwin.
During the conversation, which took place in an open and constructive spirit, the Parties touched upon the history of relations between Poland and GUAM, and exchanged views on the current status of the Organization, prospective areas of cooperation within the GUAM framework, as well as cooperation within the GUAM +format.
The Parties agreed that the current situation in and around the region urgently requires more intensified interaction between GUAM member countries and their partners, particularly in regards to the development of the GUAM transport corridor, the implementation of the Agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone, and other issues.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine confirmed his interest and support for developing cooperation within the GUAM-Poland format, as also under potential new multilateral and regional formats, which can contribute to stabilizing the situation in the region and the economic development of participating countries, as well as the expansion and strengthening of international cooperation.
The Parties agreed to continue close cooperation.
