On May 30, 2013, a meeting between the Secretary General of GUAM, Mr. V. Chechelashvili, and the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Ambassador Mr. Lamberto Zannier, took place. The Parties stressed the importance of the traditional nature of the relations that have been established between the OSCE and GUAM.

The Parties discussed prospects for implementing joint projects in various fields, and especially in the fight against organised crime, stressing, in this regard, the importance of GUAM participation at the next conference “Annual Security Review Conference”. This event should take place on June 19-20, 2013 in Vienna.

The Parties agreed to continue cooperating in order to enhance mutual cooperation.

On May 30, 2013, the Secretary General addressed the Permanent Council of the OSCE. In his address, the Secretary General informed the Permanent Council about developments in cooperation within the GUAM and GUAM+ formats for the last year, including those pertaining to trade, transport, energy, and combating organised crime.

The Secretary General underlined that GUAM is currently preparing proposals for cooperation with the OSCE, particularly in the field of radiation safety and the fight against cybercrime.

Delegations from the EU, the USA and Turkey also expressed support for OSCE -GUAM cooperation.

Ukraine, in its role as Chairman of the OSCE, hosted a dinner in honour of the Secretary General’s working visit.
