August 2, 2017, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the GUAM Gela Dumbadze and the GUAM Secretary General Altai Efendiev met in the Secretariat of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM in Kyiv.
The Secretary General congratulated the Ambassador on his high appointment and wished him success in his activities, highly appreciated the traditionally close interaction of the GUAM Secretariat with the Embassy of Georgia and expressed the hope for further development of fruitful cooperation for the benefit of the Organization’s Member States.

During the meeting, the thorough exchange of views was taken place on the priorities and main directions of the Organization’s activities, the challenges faced by the Member States in a dynamically changing regional and international context, the main goals and objectives of cooperation within the Organization. The sides noted the great potential of cooperation at the GUAM level and stressed the need for activation its targeted and practical direction. In this regard, the implemented important joint initiatives with the framework of the Georgian Chairmanship in the GUAM were noted and the need for practical implementation of the reached agreements was stressed.

The Ambassador Gela Dumbadze noted the importance which Georgia attaches to cooperation with the framework of the Organization, assured in close cooperation and at the end of the meeting invited the Secretary General to visit the Embassy.
