5 August 2024, the Secretary General of Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM H.E. Mr. Altai Efendiev met with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Yuriy Husev at the Embassy of Ukraine in Baku.
In a friendly and frank atmosphere, the Parties had extended and constructive discussion on how to further forge cooperation among the GUAM Member States in implementing the GUAM flagship initiatives in trade and transport in pursuance of the respective decisions of the Heads of Government of the GUAM MS and of the GUAM Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
The conversation mainly focused on the steps needed to be undertaken by the GUAM MS following the GUAM SG’s meeting with the EC officials in April 2023. In this respect, the EU’s assistance in developing the GUAM Transport Corridor was especially underlined. That will require the GUAM MS to take focused, collective, and coordinated actions to promote the GUAM TC initiative among the EU MS given the advancing relations between the GUAM MS and the EU on the bilateral level. Agreed to continue joint efforts to that aim.
Mr. A. Efendiev thanked Ambassador Y. Husev for his warm hospitality and wished him success in his important mission of further strengthening the strategic relationship between Ukraine and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
