On October 2-3, 2013, the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM, Mr. Valeri Chechelashvili, attended a meeting of the GUAM Youth Forum, which took place in Tbilisi under Georgia’s Chairmanship.

The Secretary General addressed participants of the Forum during the plenary meeting. In his speech, he informed attendees about the Organization’s priorities, as well as the process of developing and implementing programmes and cooperation projects, paying particular attention to the importance of the active involvement of youth from GUAM member states in these processes. The Secretary General also informed forum participants about the results of 21st meeting of the Council of the GUAM Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which took place in New York on September 26, and drew attention to the new possibilities that are opening for the GUAM format, including those related to youth, following the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit.

The Forum addressed a wide range of issues regarding cooperation involving the GUAM youth movement. Participants also adopted a Joint statement and a mid-term action plan.

The next meeting of the Forum will take place in Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova, in the spring of 2014.
