We, the members of the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly, follow closely the security situation in Ukraine and are deeply concerned with Russia’s attempts to destabilise the security situation in Europe. Military build-ups along Ukraine’s borders are extremely worrying and the European leaders need to take appropriate steps to support Ukraine and do everything in their power to deescalate the potential military conflict between Russia and Europe.

We will continue to call for political, military and financial support to ensure the security of Ukraine and reiterate to our European leaders that Russian military manoeuvres close to the borders of the country are not only a security crisis in Ukraine but rather a serious security threat to the whole Europe. The Baltic parliamentarians will continue supporting Ukraine and other GUAM countries and their territorial integrity using all the diplomatic and political means.

Russia has attempted through various means to divide Europe, cause fear in the European public and threaten several European countries. Such countries as Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and the Baltic states face disinformation, cyber-attacks, various threats and other means of aggression by Russia daily and need the support of the European Union and its leaders more than ever. We believe in European solidarity and its power to protect our citizens. For this reason, Europe must stand together against any attempts to undermine the peace and stability of the region.
