November 22-24, 2018, the 29th Meeting of GUAM Trade and Transport Facilitation Project Steering Committee took place in Baki, the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, the participants presented information on the implementation of the Trade and Transport Facilitation Project in the GUAM Member States and noted the importance and the need to continue work for the further simplifying customs procedures and ensuring safety when moving goods and vehicles across the borders of the GUAM Member States. The importance of the ongoing monitoring of the implementation of concluded international treaties in the customs field was emphasized.

The Parties heard also the Secretariat’s information on the results of the Meeting of the Heads of Government of the GUAM Member States during which the Protocol among the customs administrations of the GUAM Member States on cooperation in the field of fight against customs offences related to the movement of goods by air transport across the state borders of the GUAM Member States was signed, and informed about the progress in the implementation of the internal procedures necessary for its entry into force.

The Parties stressed the importance of continuing common action to strengthen the customs cooperation in accordance with the Joint Statement by the Heads of Government of the GUAM Member States and the priority objectives of interaction.

The using mutual potential of the GUAM Member States in customs training and exchange between relevant educational institutions of the GUAM member states

The issue of using the mutual potential of the GUAM Member States for training in the customs field and exchanging among the relevant educational institutions was discussed at the meeting.

The next meeting of the GUAM Trade and Transport Facilitation Project Steering Committee will take place in the 1st half of 2019.
