On November 29-30, 2012 the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv, Ukraine hosted the 15th meeting of the Working Group on Combating Terrorism, Organized Crime and Drug Trafficking (WGCTOC).
The Working Group took the Report on its activities in 2012 and agreed the Plan of Organizational and Practical Measures for 2013.
The Working Group discussed issues of optimization of GUAM working bodies’ structure, taking into account specific directions of cooperation, in particular, countering technogenic terrorism, cyberthreats, ensuring security of mass events.
The process of working out and implementing joint projects within GUAM, supported by the USA, including in combating money-laundering (with the UNODC), corruption (with OECD/ACN), on the Virtual Center’s infrastructure extension, GUAM participation in the UNODC Afghan Opiate Trade Project (AOTP) was considered during the meeting.
The Working Group examined proposals by the working sub-groups on development of interaction, including its analytical components, combating organized crime, improvement of information exchange, broadening regional and international cooperation.
The outcomes of the meeting were reflected in the resultant Protocol. The next meeting of the WGCTOC is scheduled to take place in November 2013.
