The 19th meeting of the Working Subgroup on Combating Terrorism (WGSCT) took place in Kyiv, on the premises of GUAM Secretariat, on November 2-3, 2017 under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan. Delegations of all the Members States of the Organization took part in the session.

The participants provided information on the activities of the international terrorist and religious extremist organizations, terrorist threats to Azerbaijan coming from the Middle East region; on the terrorist threats in the region of Central Asia, on joint operations held in 2016 – 2017, on the successful results of the operative work on cutting down of channels of financing of operations on money laundering.

The participant supported the proposal of Azerbaijan on organization of regular information exchange on the persons who participate in the terrorist activities and on holding regular expert meetings on experience exchange on identification of forms and methods of activities of terrorist organizations, the channels that they use for transportation of arms and explosives.

The Secretariat provided to the WGSCT information on the progress report on drafting of the Recommendations of the Committee of Ministers to Member States on Terrorist Acting Alone, by the Committee of Experts on Terrorism of the Council of Europe (CODEXTER) and guided the Secretariat that few of the chosen abstracts of the recommendations be included in the agenda of 2018.

On the outcome of the Meeting the Sides agreed on the decision regarding implementation of the Plan on activities of the Working Subgroup for 2017 and adopted proposals to the draft Plan for the year of 2018.

The next meeting of the Working Subgroup is due in May, 2018.
