On September 26, 2012, New York city hosted the 18th Meeting of the Council of GUAM Ministers of Foreign Affairs – United States of America (this is the 24th Meeting to take place in the “GUAM-USA” format) within the framework of the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly. Mr. Dan Russell, Deputy Assistant of State Secretary of USA, headed the US delegation.
The Parties noted the extremely important role played by projects that are supported by the USA and also projects that are jointly implemented with other international organisations and structures, with the intention of combating money laundering, drug trafficking (jointly with UNODC) and corruption (jointly with OECD/ACN). They also underlined the importance of the project for developing an extension of the national information and analytical centre network (the Virtual Centre) in GUAM member states for the purposes of combating terrorism, organised crime, drug trafficking and other dangerous types of crime.
The outcomes of the meeting were reflected in the resultant GUAM-USA Joint Statement.
