On February 15, 2016, the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development–GUAM Mr. Altai Efendiev was received by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ukraine, Mr. Krasimir Minchev.

During the conversation, which was held in a constructive manner, the Secretary General informed the Ambassador about the state of affairs in the Organization, its goals and tasks, current cooperation in the GUAM and GUAM+ formats, as well as the Program and priority activities during the Chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In particular, such areas as transport, energy, tourism, implementation of the Agreement on the GUAM Free Trade Area were noted.

The Secretary General informed about the implementation of Development Concept for the GUAM Transport Corridor, the measures and initiatives taken by Member States to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of cargo transit traffic through the GUAM Transport Corridor, the Trans-Caspian Corridor to China.

The Ambassador noted the presence of Bulgarian ferry transport capacities in the Black Sea and expressed interest in possible cooperation in this field.

The sides discussed other topical issues of regional cooperation in the Black Sea region, as well as possible participation in mutually beneficial projects, and agreed to support further close cooperation.
