On February 17, 2016, the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM, Mr. Altai Efendiev, was received by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine, Mr. Juraj Sivacek.
During their lengthy meeting, which took place in an open and friendly atmosphere, the Parties exchanged views and assessments regarding the ongoing processes in the GUAM countries, the situation developing around the region, and new initiatives that are opening up new prospects and opportunities for cooperation within the GUAM framework and also in the GUAM + format.
The SG informed the Ambassador about the ongoing situation in the Organization, the programme and priorities of the Chairman, and also about the projects being implemented by the member-states and their partners.
The SG expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for the support of the GUAM member states and for Slovakia’s cooperation with the Organization within the Visegrad Group format, and expressed hope for further cooperation. The Ambassador expressed interest in cooperating with GUAM countries, while emphasizing the importance of consistent and decisive reforms.
The Parties expressed interest in maintaining contact and exchanging information.
