On December 19, 2012, the Secretary General of GUAM was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Secretary General of GUAM expressed gratitude to the Minister for the Republic of Azerbaijan’s active and successful Presidency of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM. They emphasised that the Organization has made serious progress with respect to a number of projects, including those in the fields of transport, energy, tourism, as well as combating organised crime. They also pointed out the active development of cooperation with a number of international organisations, including the UN, OSCE, SELEC, and IRU, among others.

The Parties noted the special importance of the fact that the UN General Assembly adopted (on December 17, 2012) the resolution “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM”, which once again confirms GUAM’s growing authority and reputation within the framework of international regional cooperation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan expressed support for the priorities for the Organization set forth under the Georgian Presidency and confirmed Azerbaijan’s intention to actively contribute to furthering cooperation within the GUAM format.
