On February 10, 2012, the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv, Ukraine hosted a meeting between the Secretary General of GUAM, Mr. V. Chechelashvili and officials of the Department of Political Affairs of the United Nations and the Headquarters of the United Nations Development Programme, headed by the Senior Political Affairs Officer at Europe Division of the Department of Political Affairs, Mr. Charles Anyidoho. GUAM’s Program Coordinator on political and legal issues, Mr. O. Klynchenko took part in the meeting.
The Sides discussed development of regional cooperation, including issues of guaranteeing of regional security, solving protracted conflicts, combating crime, strengthening democratic institutions, fulfillment of international projects with participation of UN structures and GUAM, as well as cooperation with other international and regional organizations.
A special attention was paid to the draft of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution «Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development» and to the draft of the Resolution «Cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM».
