On February 17-24, 2014, a seminar on medicine issues, organised by the Japanese government for experts from GUAM member states, took place in Japan within the framework of GUAM-Japan cooperation.

Representatives of ministries and agencies from GUAM member states and representatives from the GUAM Secretariat participated in the seminar. Within the framework of this event, representatives of GUAM member states gave presentations on the development of medicine in the GUAM member states, and expressed gratitude to the Japanese Side for organising this seminar, which took place at a very high level. A meeting between representatives of GUAM member states and the Parliamentary Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, His Excellency Mr. Hirotaka Ishihara, also took place within the scope of this event.

During the seminar, participants became acquainted with Japan’s experience in the development of medicine. Participants visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the “Hitachi” medical corporation, the International University of Health and Welfare, the Mita Hospital, the National Institute of Radiological Sciences, the Saisekai Yokohamashi Tobu Hospital, and the National Hospital Organisation.

Within the framework of seminar, representatives of member states also got acquainted with the main sightseeing sites of Tokyo and Kyoto.
The experience acquired during the seminar will serve as a basis for the development of new joint projects in the field of medicine within the GUAM-Japan format.
