On 25 June 2009, the 2nd meeting of the Working Group on Emergencies (WGEMERG) took place in the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv under the chairmanship of Mr. Valeriy Tretiakov, Deputy Minister of Ukraine for Emergencies and Protection of Population aftermath the Consequences of Chernobyl Catastrophe.
The WGEMERG, in particular, listen the report on the results of the Azerbaijan chairmanship in the Group during 2007-2008, determined the priorities of further cooperation in the field of preventing emergencies and eliminating their consequences, agreed its Working Plan for 2009, reached agreements on developing the Plan of Cooperation in the Field of Education and Training, the Regulation on Exchange of Information Related to Natural and Technological Emergencies, the GUAM Member States Joint Action Plan in Sphere of Preventing Emergencies and Eliminating Their Consequences for 2010-2011 and the exchange of information on the GUAM Member States cooperation with other international organizations and structures.
The representatives of the Embassy of Japan, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, the Embassy of the United States of America and the Permanent Representation of the United Nations in Ukraine were invited to participate in the GUAM WGEMERG meeting as the guests.
