The 5th meeting of Working Sub-Group on Combating Terrorism (WGSCT), under the Azerbaijani chairmanship, was held at the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv, October 22, 2010.

WGSCT herd the country-coordinator’s Report on its activities in 2010, exchanged information on the development of national legislation, operative situation and the activities carried out by the GUAM member states in preventing and combating terrorism as well as discussed the issues of regional cooperation among GUAM member states.

The Subgroup highlighted the importance of further development and improvement of operational interaction of the GUAM member states special services, intensification of the exchange of information between them and enhancement of their mutual participation in the seminars and trainings.

WGSCT considered the legal basis of GUAM member states cooperation in sphere of preventing and combating terrorism and agreed upon the structure of thematic section of the “GUAM Information Bulletin“ in sphere of preventing and combating terrorism, as wellas addressed the issues of the intensification of interaction among the GUAM member states in preventing and combating terrorism within their participation in other international organizations, first of all, the UN, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe, and in cooperation with other states and international organizations.

WGSCT agreed upon the proposals for the WGCTOC Draft Plan of Organizational and Practical Measures for 2011, commissioned the Parties to complete the formation of their national delegations and agreed the candidacy of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the WGSCT country-coordinator for the 2011-2012 period.

The next meeting of WGSCT GUAM is scheduled for April 2011.
