On March 29, 2016, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Ukraine Mr. A. Abdualiev received Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM Mr. A. Efendiev.
During the long meeting, which took place in a very warm and friendly atmosphere, the two sides exchanged information on the processes taking place both in the GUAM member countries, and in the Organization as a whole, as well as in Uzbekistan. In particular, the GUAM Secretary General informed the Ambassador about the situation in the GUAM countries in the light of the recent events and processes taking place around the GUAM region, as well as the challenges facing the Organization.
In this regard, A. Efendiev spoke about the tasks and priority directions during the Chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Organization this year. In particular, the opportunities for international cooperation opened to the Organization in the context of the implementation of the Silk Road project, the development of the East-West transport corridor, the development of tourism, etc. were noted. The Secretary General noted the interest of the member countries of the Organization in the development of international cooperation.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan spoke about the processes taking place in Central Asia, the successes in the social and economic development of Uzbekistan, the development and expansion of the country’s international cooperation, including the implementation of the Great Silk Road project.
The parties agreed to support cooperation and exchange of information.
