On 6 April, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure for European Integration Oksana Reiter met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM), Altai Efendiev. Mr Altai Efendiev informed Oksana Reiter about the plans to conduct a number of events in the transport sphere under the auspices of the organization, in particular, the holding of the first summit since 2008 at the highest level.

A special attention was paid to the existing infrastructure projects which unite the countries that are part of the GUAM. First of all, this is the train on the route of the New Silk Road. According to Oksana Reiter, it represents economic and political interest for Georgia and Azerbaijan. At the moment, work is continuing to reduce train time, reduce tariffs, the issue of finding logistics centres for consignors in the territory of these countries is considered topical.

The parties agreed that the infrastructure cooperation within the GUAM will be allocated to a separate section at the level of the International Transport Week which will be held in Odesa from May 31 to June 3. During the event, it is planned to sign a joint action plan for the GUAM member countries for 2016.
