On April 7, 2014, the Seventh Meeting of the Working Group on Transport took place in Tbilisi, Georgia under Georgia’s Chairmanship, involving delegations from GUAM member states and representatives from the GUAM Secretariat.
Participants in the meeting exchanged information regarding the fulfilment of the Tbilisi Declaration, adopted at the Eighth Meeting of the Working Group on Transport at the level of Heads of GUAM member state institutions on February 13, 2013. They also listened to presentations by participants, offering information on developments in the transport field within GUAM member states. The parties discussed issues related to establishing new projects and cooperation programmes, based on the Development Concept for the GUAM Transport Corridor.
As a result of discussions, the parties decided to continue working towards the further development of the GUAM transport corridor in accordance with the Development Concept for the GUAM Transport Corridor, and also agreed that competent authorities will hold consultations in order to identify bottlenecks preventing the development of the transport sphere in GUAM member states.
The parties agreed to hold the next meeting of the Working Group in 2015. The exact date and venue of the Working Group’s meeting will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
