On 1-9 February in Tokyo, Japan the “GUAM-Japan” Investment and Trade promotion workshop took place, in which two participants from each Member-states and the representative of Secretary took part
Participants of the workshop met with the deputy of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr. J.Nishimura, and also had a number of meetings with the organizations focusing on promotion of investments and trade.
During the workshop following topics were discussed with different Japanese organizations: MIPRO(Manufactures Imports and Investment Promotion Organization) – export promotion from GUAM to Japan; JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) – investment and trade promotion; JBIC (Japan Bank for International Cooperation) – financing scheme for international trade; JFTC Japan Foreign Trade Council – function and role of Japanese Trading Houses; JICA(Japan International Cooperation Agency)- investment and trade promotion through ODA; Ministry of Economy and Trade – economic relations between Japan and GUAM member states; OCDI (Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute) – potential of Black Sea region through modernization of port infrastructure; “Czechinvest” – Czech experience in attracting Japanese investments; NEXI (Nippon Export and Investment Insurance) – export and investment insurance.
Within the framework of the cultural program seminar participants visited theatre Kabuki and enjoyed two-day round tour in a city of Kyoto.
