21 July 2023, the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM, Mr Altai Efendiev, met with Advisor on International Issues to the Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ambassador Oleksandr Mischenko, at the GUAM Headquarters in Kyiv.
During the meeting, the parties explored the ways and means of expanding and strengthening cooperation among the GUAM Member States in the humanitarian sphere. They emphasized the urgency to address issues caused by the ongoing and escalating aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as emanating along the process of conflict resolution between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, and by growing tensions in the conflict zones on the territories of Georgia and the Republic of Moldova.
It was agreed that draft proposals on respective initiatives would be submitted to the GUAM Secretariat for dissemination to the GUAM Member States for consideration and subsequent discussion by the GUAM working bodies.
