On March 15, 2012, the summary and award ceremony of the Second International Award “Best GUAM Banks-2011”, organized by the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM, together with International Publishing House “KBS-Izdat” (Ukraine), took place. The main objective of this event was to determine the best banks working in the GUAM space in several different nominations. 10 separate banks and four bankers received the award in various nomination categories.
The representatives of central banks, bank associations, and privately-owned banks of GUAM member states, as well as representatives of ministries and institutions of Ukraine, diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine, and representatives of the mass media participated in the award ceremony.
On March 14-15, 2012, the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv hosted the 1st International Conference “Modern payment and settlement systems – tendencies and prospects 2012”, organized by the “Bankir” magazine (Ukraine) together with the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM with the support of the central banks of Azerbaijan, Moldova, Georgia, the Baltic countries, and public associations of professional market participants as well.
During the conference, participants discussed the tendencies, problems and prospects of developing the market for payment and settlement systems with a view to improving the quality of services. Other discussions involving market regulators and business representatives were also held.
