On 28-29 October 2010, in the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv, the 3rd meeting of the Working Sub-Group on Combating Corruption and Money Laundering (WGSCML) was held under the chairmanship of the Georgian Side.
WGSCML agreed upon the Report on its activities in 2010, the proposals to the WGCTOC Action Plan for 2011, and the candidacy of Georgia as WGSCML country-coordinator for the period of 2011-2012. There were also agreed the structure of a thematic chapter of the “GUAM Information Bulletin” in sphere of preventing and combating corruption and money laundering as well as the composition of data for a regular exchange of information among the competent authorities of the GUAM member states.
WGSCML deems it necessary to intensify operative interaction among the GUAM member states’ competent authorities at the bilateral level as well as their mutual exchange with specialist with the purpose to share the experiences of the GUAM member states in this area.
WGSCML has the intention to intensify also the GUAM member states interaction in preventing and combating corruption and money laundering within their participation in the MONEYVAL, GRECO, and the Egmond Group.
The parties discussed the issues of preparation to the implementation of the OECD Anti-Corruption Network/USA technical assistance project to GUAM, and some other issues.
The next WGSCML meeting is planned for March-April 2011.
