On October 30, 2007 a meeting of GUAM National Coordinators and the GUAM Secretary-General was held with senior officials of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

During the meeting the participants discussed several issues related to cooperation between the United States and GUAM and identified new potential areas of common interest.

U.S. representatives commended the efforts of member states to make GUAM a viable forum for promoting the region’s economic, social, political, and security agenda and encouraged GUAM to continue engagement with the EU, Japan, Poland, Lithuania and other current and potential partners. The GUAM representatives expressed their appreciation for U.S. support and technical assistance.

This meeting made substantial progress towards preparation for the GUAM-U.S. meeting in the framework of the Madrid OSCE Ministerial November 29-30.
