27 October 2016, the Program Coordinator of the GUAM Secretariat Mr S. Tamirov took part in the round table «Trans-Caspian International Transport Route – Realities and Prospects» organized by the International Trans-Caspian Transport Consortium (ITTC) in Kyiv.
The Program Coordinator welcomed the participants of the round table and informed about the GUAM current activities in transport, noting the paramount importance of the development of the transport corridor for the Organization. In this context, he provided information on the Concept for the Development of the GUAM Transport Corridor, the results of the specialized conference «GUAM -Transit-22 (November 19, 2015) and the results of the 12th meeting of the Working Group on Transport at the level of Heads of Departments, during which the Odesa Declaration of the Heads of Departments of the GUAM Member States responsible for transport development was adopted (May 31, 2016).
The Program Coordinator also familiarized the participants with the activities of the Trade and Transport Facilitation Project Steering Committee, in particular, with the advantages of the GUAM Transport Corridor after the adoption of the Protocol among the Customs Administrations of the GUAM Member States on organizing the preliminary information exchange related to the movement of goods and vehicles across the state borders of the GUAM Member States dated July 8, 2015, and the Protocol Technical Specification.
The Program Coordinator also informed the participants about the further development of the Organization’s cooperation in the transport and transit sphere within the GUAM and GUAM+.
