On 4 November 2009 GUAM Secretary General Mr. V.Chechelashvili participated in the Conference on Security and Cooperation in the Black Sea, organized in Odessa by the Foundation of support of the international cooperation in Ukraine (FSICU) and supported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Committee on the international security and defense of the Parliament of Ukraine and in co-operation with Black Sea Economic Cooperation Permanent International Secretariat and Bulgaria –BSEC Chair-in-Office.
In his statement Secretary General focused on goals and objectives of GUAM, comparative advantages of different regional cooperation formats and challenges of the Black Sea security in XXI century. He also provided his vision of 2008 August Russian-Georgian war impact on the development of regional cooperation in different formats.
