On November 12, A. Efendiev, the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM met with A. Grant, Director for Eastern Europe and Eurasia at Global Affairs Canada in the GUAM Secretariat, Kyiv. The meeting was also attended by R. Waschuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine, R. Kats, Head of Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service (Counsellor) for the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine as well as M. Melenevskyi and T. Kiladze, GUAM Programme Coordinators.
The Parties exchanged views on the current situation in the GUAM region and around it, as well as on the challenges facing the Member States. During the conversation, the Secretary General briefed on the priorities of the Organization’s activity and the experience of international cooperation in format GUAM+ including the experience of project activities in the framework of EU programs.
Among other things, the Parties discussed the development of bilateral relations between Canada and the GUAM Member States and also stressed the importance of developing international interaction in the format GUAM-Canada including possible cooperation in the projects’ implementation.
The Parties expressed interest in continuing the dialogue and exchange of information.
