March 29, 2017, The 4th meeting of the Working Group on Culture and Tourism at Heads of Departments level held at headquarter of GUAM Secretariat, Kyiv.
The meeting was attended by Mr. S. Rusu, Director General of the Tourism Agency of the Republic of Moldova (the chairmanship of the meeting); Ms. R. Mamatsashvili, First Deputy Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration; Mr. I. Liptuga, Director of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Ministry of Economic development and Trade of Ukraine; Mr. R. Pashayev, Deputy Head of Tourism Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Mr. A. Efendiev, the GUAM Secretary General, as well as the representative of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine and the GUAM Secretariat staff.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the results of the Seminar on Tourism Development in the context of GUAM-Japan cooperation (January 29 – February 4, 2017). It was noted traditionally a high level of event organisation; appreciation was expressed to the Japanese side for holding the Seminar for experts of the GUAM Member States. For deepening tourism cooperation between the GUAM and Japan, participants developed and adopted the Action Plan for Tourism Development within GUAM-Japan cooperation in 2017–2020.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed. In particular, the Work Plan for the Working Group on Culture and Tourism 2017-2018 was adopted and the cooperation with the WTO was discussed.
The next meeting of the Working Group will be held in the second half of 2017. Date and venue will be further confirmed through the diplomatic channels.
