10 October 2019, in Tbilisi, under the chairmanship of the Georgian Party, the 5th Meeting of the Heads of Consular Services of the GUAM Member States took place in which participated F. Bagirov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan; G. Tabatadze, Consular Department Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; S. Odainik, Head of the Consular Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova; S. Pohoreltsev, Director of the Directorate General for Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as well as T. Kiladze, GUAM Program coordinator.
At the meeting, the participants exchanged experience in crisis management and noted the importance of developing a mechanism for common action in a crisis. In addition, the parties discussed the issues of technological innovations in the consular field, the provision of consular services through the special online platforms, as well as information on the latest changes in the regulatory framework.
During the meeting, the parties informed about the measures taken to prevent illegal trips of foreign citizens to the occupied territories of the GUAM member states and considered the possibility of developing cooperation among the member states in migration.
The attendees also discussed the draft Protocol on Amendments to the GUUAM Convention on the Mutual Assistance on Consular Issues of June 7, 2001.
