On July 12-13, 2012, the GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv, Ukraine hosted the 9th meeting of the Working Sub-Group on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Illegal Migration (WGS-TIP).
The Working Sub-Group considered the outcomes. The parts exchanged information about the operational situation and measures being taken, the period of conducting the joint measures “Perekhvat- 2012” (Interception-2012) was set.
The Working Sub-Group examined perspectives of interaction between GUAM and Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC). Possibilities of development of cooperation with OSCE, Council of Europe, and International Organization for Migration were also considered, including issues of implementation of Council of Europe’s recommendations on optimization of national legislation in combating illegal migration.
The participating delegations agreed on working out joint analytical conclusions on outcomes of counteraction to trafficking in persons and illegal migration in GUAM member states.
The outcomes of the meeting were reflected in the resultant Protocol. The next meeting of the WGS-TIP is scheduled to take place by the end of 2012.
