On 15 October 2009 GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili, upon the invitation of Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova H.E. Mr. Iurie Leanca, paid working visit to Moldova.
GUAM Secretary General also met with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration Mr. Igor Corman and Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Victor Catan.
In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration wide range of issues of GUAM cooperation were discussed, including intensification of political interaction and elaboration/implementation of projects and programs of cooperation in GUAM and GUAM+ formats.
On the meeting in Parliament issues of the GUAM documents’ ratification and participation of Moldovan delegation in the activities of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly were discussed.
In the Ministry of Internal Affairs the Sides elaborated on perspectives of cooperation in combating organized crime, as well as activities of GUAM Working Group on combating organized crime and respective sub-working groups.
On the meetings, it was emphasized, that GUAM will further intensify its efforts to serve common foreign policy priorities of member states, including their European aspirations.
